- In addition to certifications as a CrossFIt Level 1 instructor and NASM personal trainer, Jan Silverman obtained master’s degrees in Labor and Industrial Relations and in Social Work as well as a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois.
While Jan’s background includes over 10 years of experience in early childhood mental health, as well as 7 years in national oral health policy and research, fitness has always been an important part of her life. She enjoys running and has completed a number of ultra-marathons. Her passion for wellness and her recognition of the importance of fitness to overall health and mental wellness led her to leave her successful career to help others attain their fitness and wellness goals. Her primary goal in opening Geneva Fit was to create an atmosphere where everyone can improve their fitness while experiencing a supportive atmosphere, regardless of their previous experience.
She has presented at state-wide and national conferences on topics related to enhancing the parent-child relationship, father involvement and on working with pregnant and parenting mothers who have experienced sexual abuse and pediatric oral health.
Jan has four children aged 18 years to 29 years.
